About this project

It's easy to forget the value of care when no bill arrives.

Love Your NHS is a small independent educational project. It makes the invisible value of NHS healthcare visible by comparing broad types of care with indicative prices in the United States.

We are not the NHS.

This project is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or funded by the NHS. We do not use the NHS logo or collect personal health information.

Why make this?

The NHS is paid for collectively and care is free at the point of use. That is such a familiar part of life in the UK that it can be hard to picture what it protects people from: having to weigh up a trip to the doctor, a scan or an emergency visit against a bill.

The aim is not to imply that every American receives the same bill. They do not. It is to make the scale of healthcare costs—and the value of universal access—easier to feel.
